How the No-Repeat Mode Works
In probability theory, picking numbers without replacement guarantees that every item in your pool is selected exactly once before any item can be repeated.
When you enable Remove winner after spin in the wheel settings:
- You spin the wheel to select the first winning number.
- The winning number appears in the announcement modal and is recorded in the Results tab with a timestamp.
- The winning slice is eliminated from the wheel canvas.
- The wheel immediately redraws and rescales: all remaining slices widen proportionally to fill the full 360-degree circle with mathematically equal probability.
Why Use a Wheel Instead of a Hidden Number Generator?
Traditional random number generator scripts simply output a list of numbers into a text box. For classroom students, contest entrants, or live-stream audiences, this lack of visual process often creates suspicion.
A visual no-repeat wheel allows every participant to:
- Verify entry: See their number on the wheel before each spin.
- Witness the removal: See previous winners disappear from subsequent spins so no one gets double-picked.
- Follow the tension: Watch the wheel decelerate across fewer and fewer slices until the final winner is crowned.
Practical Applications
- Raffle Ticket Drawings: Award Grand Prize, 2nd Prize, and 3rd Prize from the same pool of purchased tickets without giving multiple top awards to the same ticket. Before drawing day, read how to run a fair raffle drawing.
- Classroom Order & Presentations: Call on every student in the room throughout a class period, guaranteeing no student is called twice while keeping turns unpredictable.
- White Elephant & Gift Exchanges: Assign a white elephant turn order with one spin per player.
- Tournament Seeding & Drafts: Assign fantasy sports draft positions 1 through 12 sequentially.
Tracking and Exporting Your Draw History
As you complete spins, open the Results drawer on the right side of the wheel interface. It logs every drawn number in sequential order. You can copy the full list to paste directly into Google Sheets, Excel, or email announcements.
Cryptographic Randomness Guarantee
swheel leverages the W3C Web Cryptography API (window.crypto.getRandomValues) rather than standard pseudorandom formulas. Each non-repeat spin draws fresh cryptographic entropy directly in your device browser, ensuring independent, unbiased selection on every single turn.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the number wheel prevent repeats?
Under Settings, turn on "Remove winner after spin". Each time the wheel lands on a number, that number is immediately struck from the wheel before the next spin.
What happens to the odds as numbers are removed?
The odds dynamically recalculate so that all remaining numbers share 100% of the circle equally. For example, in a 1–10 wheel, each number starts at 10%; after one draw, each remaining number has an 11.1% chance.
Can I export or copy the drawn sequence?
Yes. Every drawn number is logged in the Results drawer in chronological order. You can copy the complete winner list to your clipboard or reset it anytime.
Can I use custom number ranges like 100–200?
Yes. In the "Your entries" tab, you can paste any custom sequence, step numbers, or ticket codes you wish.
What if I accidentally remove a number?
You can re-add the number to the "Your entries" box at any time, or click "Reset list" to restore all original numbers.
